Anastasia Studios Lindos

On my most recent trip to Lindos, I was staying on the outskirts of Lindos, with a fantastic view of th old town. After starting in Rhodes Town, visiting the island of Symi, the beach town of Stegna, and the mountain village of Embonas, I arrived in Lindos.

My accommodation was Anastasia Studios offering great views of Lindos at a very reasonable price tag. Excellent, quiet location; large terrace with sun loungers, a table, and chairs, very close to the parking lot; free during the off-season. If you are lucky, you can get the room with a lovely view of the Acropolis — keep an eye out during sunrise or sunset for something really memorable!

Practical Tips for your stay in Lindos

One thing has to be mentioned – you’re never alone here in Lindos. Anyone spending a few days here looks forward to the morning and evening hours, when the stream of bus and package tour tourists subsides and Lindos belongs to the locals again. It’s highly recommended to explore the town off-peak—to head out for day trips during the day, or spend a day at a beach that’s not quite as crowded.

When to head to Lindos?

The ideal time to visit Lindos (Rhodes) is between May and October. For sightseeing (the Acropolis), I recommend May, September, and October as temperatures are mild. Those who prefer a beach holiday and warm sea should choose the months of June through August, but should expect more crowds and hot weather (sometimes over 30° C).

Lindos or Rhodes Town?

Both places are beautiful, but offer completely different experiences:

  • Lindos is a picturesque, car-free postcard village with white houses and the Acropolis overlooking the sea—ideal for romantics and beachgoers.
  • Rhodes Town is a historic, lively metropolis with a vast medieval Old Town (a UNESCO World Heritage Site)—perfect for culture lovers, shopping, and nightlife.

What’*s the atmosphere like in Lindos? Expect authentic Greek charm with narrow alleys, beautiful mosaic floors, and rooftop restaurants overlooking the picturesque bay.

What are some hidden gems in Lindos?

Lindos enchants visitors with its white-washed alleys and historic charm. To escape the crowds and enjoy the best spots, here are the top hidden gems:

  • Ancient Open Air Theater: On the way to the famous Acropolis lie the ruins of an ancient amphitheater. You can admire it from the outside completely free of charge.
  • Morning Acropolis Tour: The Acropolis towers 116 meters above town. To avoid the crowds and the heat, I recommend visiting right at 8:00 a.m. (Tickets cost 20 Euros).
  • Panagia Church: This church in the old village center, with its striking bell tower and impressive frescoes in the courtyard, is often overlooked.
  • St. Paul’s Bay: Just a short walk south of Lindos lies this picturesque, crystal-clear bay. It’s often much quieter here than on the main beach.
  • Rooftops for sunset: In the evening, many rooftops transform into great rooftop bars. A popular spot for cocktails with panoramic views is the Dreams Cocktail Bar.
